A 4 Card Tarot Play Spread For Hump Day Hell

Hi Musers, we made it through another Wednesday! I was exhausted all day and I’m struggling to reach the my work targets. There’s only one more day so I’ve been pushing myself hard. Mike is still off work so money is an issue to worry about and there’s still the problem with his family. I leafed through my Tarot Spreads Yearbook by Chelsea Pippin Mizzi and found a tarot play spread. It felt like a literal cartoon lightbulb went off over my head when I saw it. it seems the perfect follow up to my tarot for burnout spread.

Why A Tarot Play Spread?

It’s simple, really. My life is not much fun at the moment! One of the wonderful gifts children have is the gift of play. They are almost always playing and the only limit is their imagination. I think all adults would live a happier and less stressed life if we indulged in play more often.

Now before you worry, I am not suggestion you go crazy when i talk about play. You don’t need to be covered in mud or paint, you don’t need to jump into puddles etc. Of course if you want to do those things then go for it! In her book Mizzi points out that play is not about completely cutting loose and ignoring all the rules. This is true. After all, as the legendary character Monica Gellar famously said “rules control the fun!”

The book suggested to me, and now I am to you, to consider what play looks like to you. When. You were a kid did you love cutting up old magazines and making collages? Were you a gamer back in the day? Yo could try to get into a new game or there’s a real revival on old consoles so you could pick up a favourite game from your childhood. You’ll get a hint of how old I am when I say mine is Sonic the Hedgehog on the Master System 2.

I am also considering what tarot play might look like. I always treat my cards with respect but I can still have fun with them. I can try pairing a tarot and oracle that don’t seem to match at all. I can pull three random cards and see what a deck wants to tell me. There are options for tarot play and I’m still working on it.

The Spread

Mizzi suggests using my most fun deck for this spread so I’m going to go with the Happy Tarot. It’s sweet and fun and silly and also one of my easiest readers. Insights seem to flow with this deck. I’d also like you to admire my unicorn stone sphere and my fluorite point. The fluorite just arrived today as a result of my “cheer up” shopping and it’s beautiful.

  1. Where I need more play this season? The Tower! I need to play more in the areas of upheaval and unwanted change. Life has been stressful with some very bad things happening of late. I need to remind myself that it’s ok to play and cut loose, even when things are at their worst. It’s not frivolous and my problems will still be there to sort out when I’m done. Spending an hour on Hogwarts Legacy or playing a board game just means I’ll be a little less stressed when I do.
  2. What’s keeping me from playing more in this area? Page of Pentacles. I’m too busy planning! Where can i get more money, how can I help Mike get a diagnosis of ADD, will I meet my targets this month at work? Planning is always good, it’s my absolute wheelhouse, but sometimes I need to stop thinking and planning and start having some fun! Shut my mind off for a while so I don’t burn myself out. Admittedly it’s a little late for that now but good to keep in mind for the future.
  3. What can I release to encourage play? Eight of Wands. Momentum! I do not always need to be doing something, always moving forward. Sometimes i need to remember it’s ok to e still, and, more importantly, not thinking or wanting to make progress.
  4. What can I embrace to encourage play? King of Swords. I know that I am determined and organised and mentally pretty sharp. I need to accept that I have my life in hand as this will allow me to give myself “permission” to relax and enjoy myself.

Time For Rest

Thats all for now folks. If you plan to do your own tarot play spread please feel free to pop it in the comments and tell me what you got. Alternatively, why not share your favourite ways to play? Whatever you, take care of yourself xx
